FOOM Privacy Policy

Last updated: 5 October 2026 (gameplay analytics, Android purchases and ads added)

FOOM keeps your lab, earned game progress and settings on your device. There is no FOOM account or FOOM server. If you sign in to Apple Game Center or Google Play Games, the game also uses those services for achievements, leaderboards and a cloud copy of your save, as described below. Native iOS purchases use Apple's App Store, and optional rewarded videos use Google AdMob.

Your game and local records

Game saves include your lab name, settings, earned currency, equipped cosmetics, purchase delivery IDs and Sponsored Compute claims. FOOM automatically keeps a local gameplay replay of in-game actions, screen reconstruction and audio playback state. Replays leave the device only when you export or share them; this does not record your microphone or other apps. Exporting a save or sharing from the game sends the content through the destination you choose; FOOM does not add a recording-upload service.

iOS also keeps local verified-purchase recovery records and earned-reward claims so an approved purchase or completed video can be delivered after an interruption. Sponsored Compute records successful claims and their UTC day to apply its limits. These records are not sent as FOOM player identifiers or Google custom reward data.

Game Center, Google Play Games and cloud saves

On iOS, FOOM can use Apple Game Center; on Android, Google Play Games. Signing in is optional and happens in Apple's or Google's own screens. While you are signed in, FOOM sends the achievements you earn and your best leaderboard scores to Apple or Google, which show them, with your player name, to you and to other players according to your Game Center or Play Games settings. Your Game Center or Play Games player ID and name are used on your device to label the account and to keep one account's progress separate from another's; they are not sent to us.

FOOM also stores a copy of your game save, the same data as an exported save, in your iCloud account (Game Center saved games, which needs iCloud Drive) or in Google Play Games Saved Games, so you can continue on another device. When the device save and the cloud save differ, the game keeps the one that is further along or asks you which to keep; a device save replaced by a cloud save is kept on the device as a backup you can restore from Settings. Device settings are not uploaded. We do not receive or store your cloud save. Apple's and Google's privacy policies cover their handling of this data.

Gameplay analytics

On iOS and Android, FOOM can send anonymous gameplay statistics to Google Analytics for Firebase so we can see where players get stuck and what they enjoy: which screens you open, what you build and buy in the game, story choices, purchase steps (product and outcome, never payment details), errors, frame rate and device type. Google's SDK adds an app-instance identifier, the iOS identifier for vendor, device model, OS, language and an approximate location derived from your IP address. It never includes your lab name, anything you type, your Game Center or Google Play Games identity, your email or your birthdate, and FOOM does not read your advertising identifier. On iOS, Google receives the advertising identifier only if you allowed tracking for ads. Analytics data is not used for ad personalization and is not linked to you. You can turn it off any time in Settings › Privacy › Share gameplay analytics. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it stays off unless your privacy choices or that switch allow it. Google processes this data for us under its privacy policy; we keep it for 14 months. The web version of FOOM sends no analytics.

Purchases

Apple handles payment and App Store account activity. FOOM receives product information and verified transaction status from StoreKit; it does not collect your card number or Apple ID password. Your local game records which transaction benefits have been delivered.

On Android, purchases are processed by Google Play. FOOM receives Google Play's purchase confirmation (order and purchase identifiers and status), verifies it on your device and keeps the delivery record in your local save; it never receives your payment details or Google account credentials.

Restore purchases recovers eligible permanent purchases. Finished Wafer packs and the currency bundled with the original Founder's Pack purchase are not promised as recoverable after reinstall or on another device. Keep an exported game save to preserve earned progress.

Optional rewarded videos

Videos start only when you choose Sponsored Compute. No banners or checkpoint ads are included. FOOM Without Ads permanently skips videos and makes the same optional compute claim instant under identical limits.

Google AdMob and its User Messaging Platform handle video delivery, privacy choices and SDK diagnostics. Google states that its Mobile Ads SDK may collect IP addresses and approximate location, device or app identifiers, advertising and product interactions, crash logs and performance data. This third-party processing can occur even though your FOOM game save stays local. Google's privacy policy describes Google's handling of data.

On iPhone and iPad, FOOM asks for permission to track using Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you allow it, Google may use your device's advertising identifier to show more relevant videos and measure them; if you don't, the identifier is not shared, and the game works the same either way. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking. On Android, Google may use the advertising ID; you can reset or delete it in system Settings › Privacy › Ads. FOOM checks current privacy information before requesting ads. Where required, the Store offers Ad privacy choices so you can manage those choices. A paid Ad-Free entitlement skips video requests.

Deleting data and keeping your progress

Resetting your lab erases game progress. Local native purchase and reward-recovery records may remain so delivery and daily allowances stay consistent. Removing the iOS app removes its device container, while Apple maintains its own App Store purchase history. Clearing browser storage removes the web game's local saves. Export first if you want to keep your earned currency and progress.

If you use cloud saves, resetting your lab replaces the cloud copy at the next sync. You can delete the iCloud copy in iOS Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Storage › FOOM, and the Play Games copy in Google Drive › Settings › Manage apps › FOOM › Delete hidden app data. Signing out of Game Center or Play Games stops reporting and cloud saves; scores and achievements already sent stay with Apple or Google under their policies.

Children

FOOM is intended for players aged 13 and over and is not directed at children. FOOM does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
